Harlen Lahti

June 11, 1933-Feb. 5, 2022

Harlen E. Lahti, 88,

Minot, ND, passed away,

Saturday, February 5,

2022, at Trinity Homes in

Minot, ND.

Harlen Edward Lahti

was born on June 11,

1933, to Mike and Ina

(Niemi) Lahti in Cotton,

MN. Shortly after Harlen’s

birth the family moved to

Belden, ND when he was

an infant. Harlen was

raised on the family farm,

attended country school

and helped with the fami-

ly farming.

On August 4th, 1957,

he married Evelyn Saby in

White Earth, ND. Harlen

and Evelyn lived on their

farm in Belden, ND until

1986, when they moved to

Donnybrook, ND. They

lived in Donnybrook until

their retirement in 1997,

then moved to Minot, ND,

where they resided until

his death.

Harlen retired from

Mountrail County after 30

years of proudly operating

the “road maintainer,”

blading the roads and

plowing the snow. Fol-

lowing their retirement

Harlen and Evelyn en-

joyed spending their

winters in Florida where

they would get a slight

reprieve from the cold

winter weather.

Harlen loved to talk and

was very proud to be from

North Dakota and used

every opportunity he

could to tell people that

fact. He would share

stories of his farm and

how much he loved it, the

cows he raised, and his

job as a “road maintainer.”

He cherished spending

time with his family, and

loved attending all his

children’s sporting events,

horse shows, and 4-H

events.

Harlen was a devout

Christian, whose faith

never wavered, that put

his faith in God until he

was called to his eternal

home in heaven. He was a

member of Living Word

Church in Minot.

Harlen is survived by

his wife of 64 years,

Evelyn; his sons, Michael
