BISMARCK - The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality has announced it proposes to issue an air pollution control permit for construction to convert the Steel Reef Burke LLC - Lignite Gas Plant into a compressor station.
The facility is located in Burke County and its name has been changed to the Lignite Compressor Station with this permit action.
Preliminary evaluations made by the department indicate that the facility will comply with all applicable air pollution control rules and there will be no detrimental/significant effects to air quality. Predicted concentrations in the air surrounding the facility are expected to be below the state and federal ambient air quality standards.
A 30-day public comment period for the permit will begin on Nov. 9 and end on Dec. 9.
For purposes of official consideration, all comments must include the subject line "Re: Public Comment for Permit Number ACP-18362 v1.0" and must be directed in writing via email to AirQuality@nd.gov or via physical letter addressed to the NDDEQ, Division of Air Quality, 4201 Normandy Street, 2nd Floor, Bismarck, ND 58503-1324.
The facility's application and the department's proposed permit and analysis are available for review at the department's office and online at deq.nd.gov by selecting Public Comments, Meetings and Notices under the Air Quality tab. Mailed copies of these documents are available upon request.
