Two people were arrested in connection with the death of a child three years ago following a police investigation of a domestic violence report in Minot on Saturday, Aug. 22.
According to the Minot Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 4:18 p.m. to a residence in southeast Minot regarding a reported domestic violence incident. Craig Kerzmann, 49, of Minot was arrested and charged with domestic violence-serious bodily injury, a Class C felony.
During the investigation, officers were made aware of a deceased infant believed to be the child of Craig Kerzmann and Sarah Kerzmann, 45, of Minot. Investigators received information that the child died about three years ago in another state and that the death was not reported to law enforcement at the time.
Investigators were told the infant’s remains were believed to be located in a tote containing concrete. Minot Police are working with law enforcement partners in the Texas area as part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigators located a tote consistent with the description provided. The tote has been transported to the North Dakota State Forensic Examiner’s Office in Bismarck for evaluation.
Craig Kerzmann and Sarah Kerzmann were each arrested and charged with death of a child-duty to report and disturbing a human burial site, both Class C felonies.
Craig Kerzmann was transported to the Ward County Jail. Sarah Kerzmann was receiving medical care and was to be transported to the Ward County Jail following medical clearance.
The investigation remains ongoing.
