Wheelchair basketball clinic led by National Champion coach, North Dakota athlete
Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports is bringing elite-level wheelchair basketball to Minot for a weekend of inspiration, skill-building and community.
The Pinke Power Wheelchair Basketball Clinic will be held April 26-27 at the Minot Family YMCA, led by North Dakota native and adaptive athlete Hunter Pinke and Mike Beardsley, National Champion head coach of Arizona Wheelchair Basketball.
The clinic is open to adaptive athletes of all abilities and is free to attend with registration. It will include skill development, games and motivational sessions designed to grow the game and build confidence on and off the court.
“This isn’t just about basketball,” said Hunter Pinke, a Division I wheelchair basketball player and All-American at University of Arizona. “It’s about showing what’s possible when you decide there are no bad days. I’m thrilled to bring my coach to North Dakota and give young athletes the kind of push and belief that changed my life.”
Beardsley has been leading the Arizona Wheelchair Basketball team since 2019, earning accolades for both athletic excellence and academic leadership. His teams have produced seven All-Americans, 18 Academic All-Americans and three Paralympians, and this spring claimed a National Championship title.
“Having Hunter and Coach Beardsley together in Minot is such an incredible opportunity for our athletes,” said Krystal Butgereit, executive director of Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports. “We’re not just hosting a clinic. We’re helping kids see that adaptive athletics can lead to national titles, college scholarships and even the Paralympics.”
