Construction for Phase MI-6 of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project is ramping up this spring, with a key traffic change set to begin to support critical flood protection efforts in the area, according to the Souris River Joint Board.

Beginning Monday, Central Avenue will be closed at Eighth Street Northeast to allow construction on the dead loop located west of Eighth Street. This closure is necessary to safely complete essential flood control infrastructure, the board stated in a news release.

As a result of the Central Avenue closure:

– No through traffic will be allowed from Burdick Expressway to Central Avenue via Eighth Street Northeast.

– Access to Roosevelt Park will be maintained from the south.

– Residents along Central Avenue will continue to have access from the west.

Residents and travelers are encouraged to use alternate routes and plan for delays.
