Suspect arrested in domestic assault incident in Minot

A Minot man was arrested by Minot police on Wednesday in connection with a domestic assault, according to Minot Police Department information.

At 5:39 p.m., a 35-year-old female arrived at the Minot Police Department to report a domestic assault that had occurred earlier in the day. The incident involved family or household members Tyrome Darnelle West, 37, and the female victim.

During the assault, the victim reported that West struck her, strangled her and held her against her will. A juvenile was reported to be present during the incident. The victim sustained serious injuries consistent with her account of the attack.

Officers attempted to locate West at the time of the report but were unsuccessful.

About 9:45 p.m., officers observed West’s vehicle back at the residence and determined he was inside the home alone. Attempts to contact West were unsuccessful, and he refused to come to the door. Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence.

At 12:22 a.m. on Wednesday, officers executed the warrant, forced entry into the residence and arrested West without incident. He was transported to the Ward County Jail.

West has been charged with domestic violence-serious bodily injury, a Class C felony; felonious restraint, a Class C felony; and two counts of terrorizing, a Class C felony.
