Structure fire displaces Minot family
A Minot family was displaced following a structure fire on Friday, according to City of Minot information.
The Minot Fire Department responded to a report of a kitchen fire in northwest Minot at 8:57 p.m.
Station 5 firefighters arrived on scene at 9 p.m. and observed smoke showing from the front of the home. They quickly deployed a handline, or firefighting hose, while Station 3 firefighters initiated a search for family pets reportedly trapped inside.
The fire was rapidly knocked down, and crews continued search and rescue efforts until all pets were accounted for. Three cats were rescued, but three dogs and one cat did not survive. Fire and Trinity First Response crews attempted resuscitation but were unable to revive the four deceased animals.
Crews from all five stations responded and were able to contain the fire to the room of origin. However, the home sustained significant fire and smoke damage.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
