Sex charges reinstated against former school counselor

Brendon Parsley
The case against a former school counselor was reinstated after charges alleging luring minors and sexual assault were filed again in Northeast Central Distrct Court on April 16.
The charges against Brendon Parsley, 49, listed in court records as living in Minot, include two Class C felony counts of sexual assault-victim 15-17 and luring minors by computer, and one Class A misdemeanor count of solicitation of a minor victim 15 or older.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Parsley is accused of inappropriately touching a youth leaving a counseling session at Dakota Prairie High School in Petersburg, Nelson County, in 2009. A second youth alleged Parsley sent explicit messages via a social media platform in 2015 or 2016. Parsley also allegedly invited the second youth into his home.
The original case against Parsley filed in February 2024 charged him with three Class C felony counts, including solicitation of a minor-victim under 15. The case was dismissed by Judge Kristi Venhizen after the state acknowledged the solicitation charge improperly alleged a felony offense when it should have been a misdemeanor due to one of the victims being 17 when the alleged offense occurred.
Parsley’s initial appearance for the new charges is scheduled for May 23.
