Man charged with DUI after 50-minute pursuit
A Velva man was arrested following a pursuit in rural Ward County in the early morning on Sunday, according to the Minot Police Department.
An officer observed a Chevrolet pickup in southeast Minot speeding and drifting in and out of its lane. The officer suspected the driver was impaired and attempted to initiate a traffic stop at 12:32 a.m.
The driver fled from the marked patrol vehicle, leading to a pursuit into rural Ward County. The Ward County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the pursuit, which continued for more than 50 minutes across back roads and through fields before the suspect vehicle became stuck in a slough.
Jamey Douglas Reiswig, 50, was identified as the driver.
He was uncooperative, refused to exit the vehicle, disregarded commands and made several violent comments, according to the news release.
Reiswig was charged with DUI-fourth offense, a Class C felony; fleeing from law enforcement in a motor vehicle-second offense, a Class C felony; and driving under revocation-first offense, a Class B misdemeanor.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Ward County Jail. He made his initial appearance in North Central District Court Monday afternoon according to court records.
