Highway Patrol announces promotions, assignments
Col. Daniel Haugen with the North Dakota Highway Patrol has announced five promotions and the assignments of nine troopers who have successfully completed field training.
Sgt. Matthew Johnson was promoted to lieutenant on March 17, and will serve as the Northwest regional commander stationed in Minot. Johnson attended the Highway Patrol Academy in 2014, and was initially stationed in Williston as a motor carrier enforcement trooper. Johnson transferred to traffic enforcement in 2017, and remained in Williston until he was promoted to sergeant in 2019 and transferred to Grand Forks.
The other promotions included Lt. Jenna Clawson Huibregtse who will serve as the Safety and Education commander; Lt. Matthew Denault who will serve as Special Operations commander at NDHP headquarters in Bismarck; and Sgt. Nathan Boll who will serve as the eastern sergeant of the Criminal Interdiction Team station in Fargo.
Four of the nine troopers who graduated from the Highway Patrol academy in 2024 and have successfully completed field training and assigned to post locations in the northwest/central regions of the state: Trooper Warden Dahlgren serves the Northwest region and is stationed in Williston; Trooper Shane Rothenberger serves the Northeast region and is stationed in Rugby; Trooper Casey Visocksy is a criminal interdiction trooper stationed in Minot; Trooper Tucker Williams serves the Northwest region and is stationed in Watford City.
The other graduates included Trooper Dawson Brost stationed in Williston; Trooper Jorge Elizondo stationed in Hillsboro; Trooper Joshua Fastnacht stationed in Jamestown; Trooper Alekzander Harvey stationed in Grafton; and Trooper Jacob Walker stationed in Wahpeton.
