Loki was one lucky dog on Thursday, thanks to the quick response of the Dive Team to a portion of the partially frozen Souris River just east of Roosevelt Park Zoo.

Shortly before 1 p.m., a passerby called Minot Police after noticing Loki in the river in the area of 15th Street and Third Avenue Southeast, unable to get himself to shore, according to information from the Minot Fire Department, which responded with the Dive Team.

It took about 20 minutes for diver Aaron Zabka to bring Loki to safety and Animal Control officers to get him dried, warmed and reunited with his owners, Josh and Stephanie Still. It remains unknown how Loki ended up in the river.

Starting at $2.99/week.
