Community invited to welcome home event for veterans

Community members are invited to attend a “welcome home” event for 118 veterans returning on the Western ND Honor Flight, scheduled to arrive at Minot International Airport on Monday at 7:22 p.m.

Veterans aboard the Honor Flight will be returning from Washington, D.C., where the itinerary includes the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and other stops.

This is the first time the Western ND Honor Flight will travel through Minot. The terminal will be festive for the veterans’ return and the hope is to host hundreds of clapping and cheering community members willing to wave flags for the veterans returning home, according to the City of Minot.

Parking will be free in the long-term parking lot located to the southeast of the terminal, the city announced. Short-term parking lot spaces are reserved for those requiring accessibility consideration and will also be free with a validation sticker. People are encouraged to carpool as much as possible and plan to arrive at the terminal around 6:30 p.m.

The Honor Flight Network has 140 regional hubs across the United States. Its mission is to transport America’s veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials dedicated to honoring those who have served and sacrificed for the country.

Starting at $2.99/week.
