Area students place at Class A State Speech

JAMESTOWN–The North Dakota High School Activities Association has announced the results from the 72nd annual State Class A Speech Tournament held at Jamestown High School on April 12.

Local students who placed at the state competition included: Isabella Peatross of Minot High who placed fifth in Storytelling; William Anderson and Kenleigh Monley of Minot High who placed seventh in Humorous Duo; Leah Dokken of Minot High placed third in Speech to Entertain; Danielle Nusz of Watford City placed fourth in Storytelling; Kenji Son of Watford placed second in Extemporaneous Programmed Reading; Violet Pineda of Watford City placed seventh in Poetry; and Danielle Nusz of Watford City placed second in Serious Prose.

All participants qualified from one of two regional tournaments or at an invitational tournament held during the season. West Fargo Horace captured first place with 168.99 points. West Fargo Sheyenne took second with 81.49 points, Valley City placed third with 48.33 points and Bismarck St. Mary’s was awarded fourth with 40.5 points.
