Another council member joins Minot mayoral race

Minot City Council member Paul Pitner has entered the race for mayor, saying he is “ready to get Minot back on track.”

Pitner announced his decision to run on social media on Tuesday.

“I aim to restore integrity to the office of the mayor. It’s time we get our beloved city back on track, one we can all be proud to call home,” Pitner posted.

A lifelong Minot resident and graduate of North Dakota State University, Pitner has been engaged in the community in real estate sales and as owner of Pitner Rain Gutters. He had served on local committees and boards before his election to the city council in 2018. He was re-elected in 2022 and his term runs until June 2026.

The mayor’s term also runs until June 2026.

Others who have announced their candidacies include council members Mark Jantzer and Rob Fuller. Minot resident Josiah Roise, who turned in petitions seeking a mayoral election, also has indicated he intends to run. The city council is expected to consider an election date when it meets April 21.

Starting at $2.99/week.
