Suspect arrested in weapons incident

A Minot man was arrested Sunday after a weapons incident in northeast Minot.

According to a release from the City of Minot, Minot Police officers responded to a report of gunfire at a northeast Minot residence about 3:02 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers detained Cody Redfern, 33, Minot, as a suspect in the incident, and charged him with two counts of reckless endangerment-extreme indifference to human life, two counts of terrorizing and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, all Class C felonies.

According to City information, the investigation revealed the two victims had gone to the residence to retrieve personal property from Redfern when an argument ensued between Redfern and a female victim. During the altercation, Redfern allegedly presented a shotgun and fired a round into the ground a few feet in front of the victims.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and two firearms were recovered from the residence.

City information said Debby Redfern, 62, Minot, is currently under investigation for her role in the incident. She is not in custody. The investigation is ongoing, according to the information.
