Suicide alertness training scheduled

LivingWorks safeTALK suicide alertness training will take place Friday, March 21, from 1-4 p.m., at the Minot Public Library.

The event, sponsored by FirstLink and funded by a grant through INSPIRITUS Community Health Foundation, is open to the public and free of charge.

The training focuses on how to recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and connect them with additional resources.  Workshop participants will learn about suicide awareness, how to respond in situations where suicide thoughts occur, and recognize invitations for help.

“INSPIRITUS Community Health Foundation was founded under principles of responding in a just manner to basic human needs.  While life can throw challenges our way as a community, our wish is that the knowledge gained in trainings like these can create transformational shifts in perspectives, and create hope,” said Shelly Weppler, president of INSPIRITUS Community Health Foundation.

The three and a half hour training is available at no cost to anyone aged 15 or older and is approved for CEU hours for NDBSW, NDEMS and NDPOST.

Starting at $2.99/week.
