Minot native keynote speaker at Vietnam Veterans event

Retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Michael Miller, a 1970 graduate of Minot High School, will be the keynote speaker at the 50th Anniversary Vietnam Veterans Celebration on Saturday, March 29.
The program will be held in the Minot Municipal Auditorium. Doors will open at 10 a.m., with the Colors of the United States presented at noon by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. There will be a noon meal. The program at 1 p.m. is open to all veterans, as well as the public.
Miller has made numerous aircraft carrier landings and commanded the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy as well as Carrier Strike Group 7/USS Ronald Reagan.
He was the first active-duty director of the White House Military Office.
Miller also served as the superintendent of his alma mater, the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, from 2010-2014.
Also speaking will be Peter Foor, a retired judge from California who spends time at Lake Sakakawea. Foor was a U.S. Marine platoon leader who served with Minot native Lt. John Joyce, who gave his life in the Republic of South Vietnam in 1969. Foor was a personal friend of Joyce, who graduated from Minot Model High School in 1962.
