Minot brings Broadways stars to local stage

Chris Minor
On Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. “Bachelors of Broadway” will take to the stage at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall on the Minot State University campus as part of the International Artists Series of Minot. The goal of the program is to bring international artists to perform where students can experience forms of music they otherwise wouldn’t often get the opportunity to hear.
The performance is filled with a variety of recognizable Broadway hits and maybe a few new ones.
Ron DeStefano and Melissa Giattino operate EPIC Management, which produces a few shows of its own and also manages other artists. They started as a tap duo called “Two on Tap,” performing on cruise ships among other locations. They then developed two other groups – Shades of Buble in 2015 and NYC3 in 2018.
These groups turned into inspiration for the “Bachelors of Broadway” production.
“We have a lot of people asking us when we are going to put together a Broadway show? But Broadway can sometimes be a little lame as the same numbers are performed,” DeStefano said. “We wanted to do something different, so during the pandemic we really started to work on it. Once we put our minds together it came together relatively quickly.”

Putting together shows like Bachelors of Broadway takes a lot of practice and dedication, starting with the auditions.
“Each of them has to sing pop, be an excellent singer with range, sing Disney music and sing traditional Broadway music,” DeStafano said. Auditions are held in which hundreds of men come to test their talent.
This year the featured artists performing in Minot will be Joshua Woodie, who has previously performed with Shades of Buble; Zak Edwards, a touring artist who has performed with productions such as “Pirates of Penzance”; and Christopher Minor, who is new to the company but has an impressive performance history.
Tickets can be purchased online from Minot Concerts or by calling 838-1113, or at the door.
