The League of Women Voters of Plum Valley has announced a Light for Our Democracy event at Minot City Hall Tuesday.

Tuesday marks President Trump’s address to Congress. We the People will host peaceful community gatherings at state capitols, city halls, town halls and public gathering spaces across the country to bring people together in reflection, action, and solidarity.

Leaders of the League of Women Voters of Plum Valley and the Minot Human Rights Coalition are hosting the Minot event at 7:30 p.m.

“Democracy is not just what we have. It’s who we are,” the local League of Women Voters stated in a news release. “It’s the promise that we, the people, have the power to shape our destiny. Let’s stand together, not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans united by our shared commitment to freedom, justice and equality. The road ahead may be challenging, but we walk it together. With hope in our hearts and unity in our actions, we will defend democracy and ensure it endures for generations to come.”
