A Florida woman has been arrested and charged with felony child abuse.

According to information from the City of Minot, the Minot Police Department responded to reports on Monday of a child being assaulted in a parked vehicle at a business in southwest Minot. Officers located the vehicle shortly after the report and initiated an investigation.

According to the City’s release, it was determined the 11-year-old juvenile had been struck multiple times in the face and choked by their guardian. The child’s injuries were reportedly consistent with witness statements.

Adrienne Maria Meyer, 31, Brooksville, Fla., was arrested for Class B felony child abuse and transported to the Ward County Jail. Two children were placed in the care of Ward County Social Services.

Meyer made her initial appearance in North Central District Court Tuesday.
