District Legion posts, auxiliaries to meet in April
VELVA – Members of North Dakota’s American Legion Posts of the 6th District and their auxiliaries will gather in Velva at the Legion Club, 200 N Main, for their 2025 Spring District Meeting on Saturday, April 12, at 7 pm. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by a meal at 6 p.m. The cost of the meal is $10.
The district includes Burke, Bottineau, McHenry, McLean and Renville counties.
District Commander Heather Thompson of Bottineau Post 42 will preside over the session. Department Commander Mamie Havelka of Bismarck Post 1 and other department officers will be in attendance.
Legionnaires will be brought up-to-date on upcoming youth activities, such as American Legion Boys State to be held in June on the North Dakota State School of Science Campus in Wahpeton and the American Legion baseball season.
Representatives will elect a new district commander and a district vice commander for the 2025-2026 Legion year. Joining the members of the district will be area department committee members, department vice commander and candidates for various Legion offices seeking support at the Department Convention in Fargo, June 27-29.
