The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) has granted Dakota College at Bottineau initial accreditation to establish a dental hygiene program. Set to commence in fall 2025, dental hygiene will complement the dental assistant program at its Dakota College Downtown location in Minot.

Applications open today for the inaugural cohort of dental hygiene students. Prospective students interested in pursuing a career in dental hygiene are encouraged to apply early to secure their spot in this competitive program.

According to a DCB news release, this initiative marks a significant milestone as it expands the college’s educational offerings to meet the growing demand for skilled dental professionals in the region. CODA accreditation affirms adherence to rigorous standards of excellence in dental education.

“This program joins the recently launched dental assisting program as institutional points of pride for DCB,” Dr. Carmen Simone, campus dean/CEO, said in the release. “We are excited to begin instruction this fall and are grateful for the community support we have received over the years.”

This program is housed in a newly remodeled facility, designed with state-of-the-art equipment. It is tailored to prepare students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in dental hygiene. Under the guidance of experienced faculty members, students will receive comprehensive training in various aspects of dental hygiene, ensuring they are well-prepared for successful careers upon completion of the program, DCB stated.

“The initial accreditation status granted to DCB’s dental hygiene program by the Commission on Dental Accreditation is the culmination of years of hard work by many members of the DCB community and beyond,” said Annie Capener, Dental Program director. “We are so thankful for the efforts of all those involved in getting to this point.”
