The City of Minot Planning Department has been made aware of a potential scam targeting current clients.

Information provided by the city Saturday stated only one client is known to have been targeted. An email, purportedly from the City of Minot Planning Department, used the city’s logo and an email address that is similar to the city’s legitimate address. The email referenced an actual zoning application request and stated the application approval fee is due. It directed the client to wire transfer $4,950 owed in fees.

In a social media post, the city stated it is working to resolve the issue and urges the public to use caution and contact the planning department if contacted about owed fees.
