Ward County 4-H successful at area archery match

BOTTINEAU – Nineteen archers from Ward County participated in the Bottineau Indoor 4-H Open Archery Match on Jan. 18.
The match included a postal option, allowing competitors to submit targets for scoring by mail. Indoor archery matches are divided into age and bow-type categories: beginners (8 to 10 years), juniors (11 to 13), and seniors (14 to 18) and masters division for those 14 and older who qualified for a national contest. Bow divisions are Bare Bow, which uses no sights or releases, and Freestyle, which allows for sights or releases.
The team of Stetson Brandvold of Ryder, Faith Carpenter of Granville, and Paislee Everson and Breanna Mindt, both Minot, placed fifth in the Senior Freestyle Division with a combined score of 786. Brooklyn Bloms of Carpio also participated.
In the Senior Bare Bow Division, the team of Brynlee Bloms of Carpio, Abrielle Michel and Eizabeth Michel, both of Berthold, and Mindt placed fifth with a combined score of 732. Elizabeth Michel also placed eighth individually with a score of 265.
In the Junior Freestyle Division, Quade Everson, Minot, placed fourth individually with a score of 146. The team of Everson, Blake Guritz and Tabitha Hauge, both of Surrey, and Hadley Yoder of Minot placed seventh with a combined score of 384. Tatum Ehli, Minot, also participated.

Kelby Yoder, Minot, placed third individually with a score of 125 in the Beginner Freestyle Division. The team of Yoder and Claire Babinchak of Carpio placed 10th with a combined score of 176.
In the Beginner Bare Bow Division, the team of Hope Anderson of Minot, Rhett Bloms of Carpio, Olivia Michel of Berthold and Finnley Neshem of Burlington placed sixth with a combined score of 509.
