Truck driver injured in Highway 83 incident

COLEHARBOR – A Minnesota truck driver was injured Monday when his semi truck went over an embankment along U.S. Highway 83 near Coleharbor, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Jeffrey Baker, 73, Bloomington, Minnesota, was transported to a Garrison hospital, then transferred to a Minot hospital.

According to information from the Highway Patrol and McLean County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. The 1997 Peterbilt pulling a 2003 trailer left the roadway and went off the east side of the lake embankment and over railroad tracks. The sheriff’s office reported a diesel fuel leak and minor damage to the railroad tracks.

Baker was cited for care required. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
