REFLECTIONS: Give Jesus a chance from start

Give Jesus a chance.

Four simple little words. I read them on the back of a shirt a guy was wearing one time and thought to myself that maybe there was a point to be made here.

Since that time I have thought about this many, many times. Wonder if that means we should seek Jesus as a last ditch effort, when all else in life seems to have fallen short of accomplishing our objectives and efforts, or possibly we need to “Give Jesus A Chance” from the very beginning. Could very well be that if we have Christ in our heart, we might not have quite as many last ditch efforts.

Then if we look at the other side of the equation, look at the chance that Jesus Christ has given us. A chance to become children of God through the shedding of His precious blood on the cross. Forgiveness of sin and the promise that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. A chance of a lifetime.

I have yet to see a better opportunity present itself anywhere, at any price, or at any time. Free of charge to all who believe in Him. God, made man in Christ Jesus, came to earth as an infant and lived among us. And when the time came he carried the sins of the world, to satisfy the wrath of God, to the cross and paid an unfathomable price, by the shedding of His own precious body and blood. All of this so that his people could be saved from sin. And by the grace of God, His jar of blessing is truly bottomless.

The forgiveness, life, and salvation that Jesus offers is a bottomless jar also. Meant to be shared with everyone. There are no exceptions. None.

In this fast paced world in which we find ourselves today, with technology, modern travel and such, it seems like corruption and bad things lurk everywhere. The news is full of natural disasters, fires, crime and so on. Every day has new events. Let us hope that we can all focus on what really matters. And in so doing, “Give Jesus A Chance.”
