Past month temp same as long-term average
The past month of January had an average temperature of 7.8 degrees which is the same as the 118 year, long-term average of 7.8 degrees, according to Austin Kraklau of the North Central Research Extension Center, south of Minot.
He said the lowest temperature of the month was -27 degrees on Jan. 20 and the high was 39 degrees on both Jan. 17 and Jan 29.
The total moisture for the month was 0.41 inches which is 0.14 inches below the long- term average of 0.55 inches, Kraklau said.
He said the snow total for the month was 4.9 inches, which is 2.1 inches below the long-term average of 7 inches.
