MRP repays railroad museum’s support

Submitted Photo Nancy Pearson, representing Mouse River Players Community Theatre, presents Golden Melland, president of the Railroad Museum, with a check for $506, raised during January’s performances of “Murder on the Orient Express” to show community support for the museum.

Mouse River Players returned the support shown for its theater by the Railroad Museum of Minot with a check presentation this past Saturday.

In the summer of 2024, MRP board secretary Lin Knickerbocker read an article about how the flood protection construction at Roosevelt Park had shut down the mini-train ride at the park, according to a news release from MRP. She knew the loss of the seasonal train ride income would be a significant downturn of support for the nonprofit, volunteer-run railroad museum.

The members of the railroad museum have been supporters of MRP, contributing information and displays for shows with railroad themes, the release stated. As MRP was planning a railroad-themed performance during the current season, Knickerbocker thought this would be a great opportunity to demonstrate community support for the museum.

During the January performances of “Murder on the Orient Express,” the MRP board earmarked all fishbowl contributions for donation to the Railroad Museum of Minot.

On Saturday, Nancy Pearson, representing Mouse River Players Community Theatre, presented Golden Melland, president of the Railroad Museum, with a check for $506, raised in support of the theater’s community partner.
