Knight/Mustang moves to Yellow Jacket this fall

Kari Gibb/MDN Our Redeemer’s senior Andrew Eby, flanked by his parents, inked his NLI to attend school and play baseball for Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, this fall.

Senior Andrew Eby, who plays baseball for the Surrey Mustangs and Basketball for Our Redeemer’s Knights enjoyed a stellar moment in his student-athlete career on Friday, February 21, at the Our Redeemer’s Christian School.

The soon to graduate senior inked his National Letter of Intent to attend school and play baseball for the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets this fall.

“My older sister researched the best schools for her studies and selected Cedarville,” said Eby. “As we moved her, I got to spend some time at the campus. I noticed that they had a baseball program. Between the coaches interviewing me and me spending time looking into the engineering programs, we decided it would be a good fit.”

Eby had not intended to be a pitcher on the mound as a younger player. His intention had been to be in the outfield. In one of his first games, he threw out a runner at home plate with a throw from center field and the coach moved Eby to the mound to pitch the next game.

History was set.

Cedarville University is a private school with high standards in academics as well as the typical sports programs offered at the NCAA Division II level in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) and is also a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

“I am excited to study engineering,” said Eby. “I am excited to keep pitching and improving my baseball skill set. I am excited to attend a school that has strong Christian cores and values at the campus.”

The Yellow Jackets will be lucky to have the young man in their ranks.

Starting at $2.99/week.
