Golden Kiwanis grant applications due March 1

The Minot Golden Kiwanis mini-grant program is seeking applications in the current grant round that closes March 1. Mini-grants range from $100-$500.

The mini-grant is available to agencies within the Minot Community for special needs or for smaller projects that will have a significant impact on the well-being, literacy or nutrition of children. Preference given to agencies that have received donations in the past.

The main focus of the Minot Golden “K” is to support children in the Minot community. Grant requests must involve activities or actions that will include some or all of the following: improve, upgrade the educational opportunities for children; improve the nutrition, health and well-being of children; and/or provide for the physical and mental safety of children.

The $17,366 in grants awarded by Minot Golden K from October 2023 to September 2024 were: YMCA (swim program), $1,000; Magic City Discovery Center ,$2,000; 2nd Story (Sponsor of the Month), $1,000; Minot Area Chamber (career and college readiness), $500; International Music Camp (half-tuition scholarship), $315; Westhope Public School (eight packs of headphones), $351; Our Redeemer’s Junior Class (after-prom party), $300; Motorcycle safety for Minot area kids (70 cc pit bike), $500; Companions for Children (mentoring program), $500; Dakota Hope Clinic (Festival of Trees), $500; Metigoshe Ministries, $400; Burlington Recreation Commission (expand dugouts), $1,500; Youth Vaping Taskforce, $1,500; Minot High Trap Team (awards banquet), $500; Marketplace for Kids, $,1,500; First District Health (vision screening machine), $1,500; Anne Carlsen Center (swing-swing frame), $2,500; Ward County Historical Society (three pedal cars), $50; Salvation Army (Fill The Bus), $500.
