The Minot Fire Department responded to an overnight garage fire in southeast Minot early Wednesday morning.

According to city information, firefighters were dispatched at 12:06 a.m., and upon arriving at the scene encountered heavy fire coming from a detached garage at the rear of the property.

Fire crews verified that all occupants had evacuated the home before initiating fire suppression efforts. The garage was engulfed and is a total loss, along with its contents which included two vehicles. There was additional damage to the siding of the home and a neighboring garage, but firefighters were able to prevent the fire from extending inside these structures.

Once power was restored, firefighters confirmed the home’s heating system was operational, allowing the occupants to remain in the home. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
