The Dakota Territory Air Museum is an aviation museum north of the Minot International Airport.
The museum opens Saturday, May 17. During the season it is open daily.
Scheduled at the museum during this year’s season is the annual “Wings & Wheels,” an event with vintage and classic cars and the museum’s collection of classic and vintage aircraft, scheduled for July. More information will be announced.
The museum has one of the largest collections of World War II planes at one location in the central U.S. Most of the warbirds, housed in the museum’s Flying Legends Hangar, are owned by Bruce Eames of Houston, Texas. The Bruce Eames Collection includes the Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX, one of the few Spitfires of that model flying in the world.
Founded in 1986, the museum’s displays include other warbirds and general aviation aircraft, a full-scale replica of the Wright Flyer and many artifacts. The military and civilian aircraft are from the 1900s to present.
The museum closes for the season in mid-October.
