Voltaire man dies after pinned by vehicle
KARLSRUHE – A Voltaire man died after accidentally becoming pinned between a stuck vehicle and a building in rural McHenry County shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday.
According to information from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 1989 Ford F-350 driven by a 64-year-old man from Voltaire attempted to leave a driveway on 42nd Street North in rural McHenry County, about 5 miles south of Karlsruhe, when it went off the driveway and became stuck in a ditch. A 74-year-old man from Balfour was attempting to tow the Ford out of the ditch with a 2002 GMC Yukon when the Ford came close to a nearby structure.
The men stopped to check their progress, and the driver of the Ford exited his vehicle. The driver of the Yukon continued to tow the vehicle, unaware the other man had exited. The driver of the Ford was then pinned between the vehicle and the structure. He was extricated and CPR was performed on scene, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Neither driver has been identified, and the crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
