Traffic stop leads to arrest in NE Minot
A Minot man was arrested by Minot Police following an incident in Minot Saturday.
According to City of Minot information, about 6:24 p.m., Minot Police officers attempted to stop a white 2011 Lexus LS 400 in the 1800 block of South Broadway. Upon initiating the traffic stop, the driver fled northbound at speeds of 60-65 mph, prompting officers to disengage due to road conditions.
Shortly after, the Lexus collided with a white 2015 Ford Escape in the 200 block of 11th Avenue Southwest. The Escape, occupied by a 22-year-old female and a 21-year-old male, both from Minot, sustained damage, but no injuries were reported.
The suspect vehicle fled the crash scene westbound, where officers relocated it and initiated a pursuit. The chase covered about 3.4 miles, traveling on 14th Avenue Southwest, Third Street Southeast near Rosehill Memorial Park and Third Street Northeast, before ending near Seventh Street Northeast and Bavaria Drive. The vehicle became stuck in a snowbank and officers apprehended the driver without incident.
The suspect, identified as Robert Lee Christianson, 30, Minot, was charged with the following: fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer in a motor vehicle, a Class C felony; leaving the scene of a property damage accident, reckless driving and driving under suspension, all Class B misdemeanors; and a citation for liability insurance required Christianson was transported to the Ward County Jail.
