Produced water spill occurs near Wildrose

WILDROSE — Continental Resources, Inc. has notified the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) of a produced water spill about eight miles north of Wildrose, according to information from NDDEQ.

The incident resulted from a piping connection leak on Monday and impacted rangeland drainage to a waterbody.

Produced water is a by-product of oil and gas development. Continental estimates about 5,880 gallons of produced water was released from the pipeline.

According to the NDDEQ, about 420 gallons left the well pad. Personnel have inspected the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
