Man sentenced for psychedelic mushrooms sale
A Minot man who pleaded guilty to selling psychedelic mushrooms to a Ward County Narcotics Task Force (WCNTF) officer at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot last summer has been sentenced to serve 12 days in the Ward County Jail.
Jacob William Meyer, 38, Minot, entered his guilty plea on Jan. 15 in North Central District Court, pleading guilty to one Class B felony count of delivery of controlled substance-schedule I hallucinogenic substance. A second Class B felony count of possession with intent to deliver-schedule I hallucinogenic substance was dismissed in accordance with a plea agreement.
According to court documents, the WCNTF and Northwest Narcotics Task Force conducted joint undercover plain clothes drug interdictions at the fair on July 19, 2024. Two Task Force officers entered the fair undercover, and were approached by Meyer who inquired if either of them would be interested in purchasing some psilocybin mushrooms. Meyer sold two “eighths” to the undercover officers for $50, and was later apprehended by uniformed patrol officers.
Judge Todd Cresap sentenced Meyer to serve 12 days of a 360-day sentence in the Ward County Jail, with credit for 12 days already served. The Class B felony count will be deemed a misdemeanor pending Meyer’s successful completion of two years of supervised probation.
Meyer was also ordered to complete a chemical dependency evaluation, and assessed $775 in court fines and fees.
