Giving Hearts Day benefits area charities

A number of Minot-area and statewide organizations are among charities participating in the 2025 Giving Hearts Day. Donations are being accepted now through Feb. 13.

Giving Hearts Day arose in 2008 as a unique fundraising concept that encourages people to support their favorite charities around Valentine’s Day. The event has gone on to become one of the longest-running and most successful giving days in the country, providing a platform for North Dakota and northwest Minnesota charities to raise $195 million, according to Dakota Medical Foundation, a co-host with Impact Foundation and the Alex Stern Family Foundation.

Gate City Bank is continuing its annual nomination contest, which allows individuals to nominate Giving Hearts Day charities as many times and as often as they want. The top charity will receive $25,000, and two additional winners will each be awarded $10,000.The nomination period runs until Feb. 6, with the recipients set to be chosen through random drawings and announced on Giving Hearts Day, Feb. 13.

For the past 11 years, Gate City Bank has facilitated more than 823,000 nominations, with more than 150,000 submitted in 2024 alone. More than 300 charities have benefitted.

Starting at $2.99/week.
