Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak, R-ND, took the oath of office on Friday, becoming North Dakota’s representative in the U.S. House of Representatives, according to information from her office.

In a ceremony held in the U.S. Capitol, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., administered the oath alongside Fedorchak’s family.

“I am deeply honored and humbled by the trust the people of North Dakota have placed in me. Representing our great state is the opportunity of a lifetime, and I am committed to bringing North Dakota’s values and priorities to Washington,” Fedorchak said. “From our leadership in energy and agriculture to our independence and common sense, I will work tirelessly to be a voice for solutions to our nation’s greatest problems. This is an incredible moment for our country. We can and must build on our strengths, get our fiscal house in order, and create stability and opportunity for the future.”

The ceremony marked the beginning of Fedorchak’s first term in Congress. She has been appointed to serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Fedorchak replaces Kelly Armstrong as North Dakota’s House representative. Armstrong did not seek reelection but ran for N.D. governor, winning that election in November. Fedorchak formerly served as a commissioner for the North Dakota Public Service Commission.

Kevin Cramer, R-ND, was sworn in during a ceremony Friday for his second term representing North Dakota in the U.S. Senate. He was sworn in as North Dakota’s 24th U.S. senator in 2019, and previously served in the House of Representatives.
