Defendant pleads guilty to role in June shooting

A Minot man was sentenced to serve two years in prison for his role in a shooting in downtown Minot in June after entering a change of plea on Tuesday.

Jamonie Evan Davis, 20, Minot, entered his change of plea in North Central District Court before Judge Gary Lee, pleading guilty to counts of reckless endangerment-extreme indifference-dangerous weapon and aggravated assault-dangerous weapon, both Class C felonies. A third Class C felony count for tampering with physical evidence was dismissed.

Davis was one of two suspects charged in connection to the early morning June 23, 2024, shooting, along with Laquint Tydelle Sarvis, 23, Fayettevill, North Carolina, who pleaded guilty to his role in October 2024. Two male victims sustained gunshot injuries in the incident which arose after an altercation occurred in the area of the 10th block of First Avenue Southeast.

Lee sentenced Davis to serve five years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, to first serve two years. Davis was given credit for 193 days already served, and will have to complete five years of supervised probation upon release. Davis was also assessed $125 in court fines and fees.
