WSC partners with universities on 4-year degrees

WILLISTON – Williston State College has announced a partnership with Dickinson State University and Mayville State University to bring four-year bachelor’s degree programs to its campus. The partnership, formalized through recently signed Memorandums of Understanding , opens new pathways for students to earn bachelor’s degrees while remaining in Williston.

Programs include secondary education, business, social sciences and other high-demand fields, addressing workforce needs in western North Dakota and providing affordable, local access to higher education, according to a WSC news release.

“This partnership demonstrates our commitment to expanding opportunities for our students,” said Dr. Bernell Hirning, WSC president, in the release. “By partnering with Dickinson State and Mayville State, we’re empowering students to achieve their educational goals close to home, while also serving the needs of our local communities.”

“Mayville State University is excited about the opportunity to partner with Williston State College to expand our renowned education programs that can further serve the western portion of North Dakota. We have been fortunate to serve many students from the Williston State College area and look forward to providing workforce support to this region,” said Dr. Brian Van Horn, president of MaSU.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Williston State College by offering face-to-face bachelor of business administration programs in accounting, administration, finance and human resources,” said Holly Gruhlke, vice president of DSU. “Business is DSU’s largest and fastest-growing program, and for nearly a century, our School of Business and Entrepreneurship has prepared graduates to excel as leaders in management, law, entrepreneurship and accounting. These programs provide students with opportunities for in-demand careers while benefiting from WSC’s outstanding academic and student support services, including housing.”

The Collaborative Bachelors Program at Williston State College strengthens ties within the North Dakota University System, providing flexible, locally accessible education that supports both students and the broader community, the release stated.

Enrollment information for the Collaborative Bachelors Program will be available in the new year.
