New Town man arrested for vehicle theft

A New Town man was arrested by Minot Police in connection with the theft of a vehicle in southwest Minot on Monday, according to a City of Minot news release.

About 3:21 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen purse at a southwest Minot business, which later escalated to the theft of a vehicle. The victim reported her purse stolen from her place of employment. Shortly afterward, she discovered her vehicle had also been stolen. Using a tracking app, the location of the stolen vehicle was identified at a local truck stop.

Minot Police officers, along with the Ward County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the location. The stolen vehicle was found at the truck stop, with Dylan William Nelson, 20, as the sole occupant inside. Both the stolen vehicle and purse were returned to their owner.

Nelson has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle ($10,000-$50,000), a Class B felony, theft ($1,000- $10,000) a Class C felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia (other than marijuana). He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ward County Jail.
