The Minot Fire Department responded to an electrical fire in northeast Minot Wednesday.

At 12:18 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to 509 7th St. NE., where the sole resident and pet were outside of the structure. Firefighters were met with heavy smoke in the basement from an unknown source. They discovered an electrical panel had failed and had been arcing.

The fire remains under investigation.
