Higher ed board member elected to regional position
Tim Mihalick, president of North Dakota’s State Board of Higher Education, was elected treasurer of the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) during its annual meeting in Overland Park, Kansas, Nov. 18-20.
Mihalick was appointed to the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education in 2019. His term runs through 2027. He is the senior vice president at First Western Bank & Trust, Minot.
He was initially appointed a MHEC commission in 2021 and is serving his second term. MHEC strengthens postsecondary education in its 12-member states through cost saving initiatives and collaborative solutions informed by research and the expertise of regional leaders.
“I am honored to be elected as treasurer for MHEC, an organization that has a tremendous impact on our postsecondary institutions,” Mihalick said in the release. “I look forward to serving with my fellow commissioners to strengthen higher education in our Midwest region.”
“Tim’s financial expertise combined with his broad experience in higher education will be invaluable as we plan for the future of MHEC and as we continually seek business solutions and cost savings for our higher education institutions. We are fortunate to have him in this leadership position,” said Susan Heegaard, MHEC president.
