NEW TOWN – The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation held an inauguration on Nov. 7 for the three winners of seats on the Three Affiliated Tribes’ business council. The event was held in the 4 Bears Casino and Lodge, west of New Town.
Dr. Monica Mayer, North Segment representative, and Fred Fox, East Segment representative, were certified as winners of their respective seats in the primary election in September. Both received the majority of votes in their races.
Tex Hall and Gladys Sherry Turner-Lone Fight, candidates for the West Segment seat, moved on from the primary election to the general election. Turner-Lone Fight was certified in the general election as the winner of the Mandaree seat with 206 votes. Hall received 194 votes.
