NEW TOWN – A Kansas man died in a two-vehicle crash on N.D. Highway 23, about 14 miles west of New Town on Tuesday.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, about 3:36 a.m. a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by a 43-year-old man from El Dorado, Kansas, was traveling east on Highway 23 and rear ended a 2012 Kenworth truck that was also going east on Highway 23.

The pickup driver died from his injuries on scene. The driver of the Kenworth, a 34-year-old man from Westport, Washington, was not injured.

Names of those involved in the crash will be released pending notification of next of kin.

The stretch of Highway 23 between N.D. Highway 22 and 104th Avenue Northwest was closed for about three hours.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
