INSPIRITUS awards grants, launches Twice Blessed

Grants totaling $146,025 were awarded to support area projects at the INSPIRITUS Community Health Foundation’s grant luncheon Thursday.

Grants are provided to organizations for projects that impact the mental, physical, spiritual and/or emotional well-being of people in the counties of Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, McLean, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville, Rolette, Sheridan, Ward and Wells.

Receiving grants were:

– Camp Metigoshe, Bottineau, $5,000 for Building Bridges-Ojibwa Week programming.

– First District Health Unit, Minot, $10,000 for CredibleMind promotion, $4,000 for the Child Passenger Safety Program and $3,325 for nursing needs.

– FirstLink, Minot, $7,000 for Hope is on the Line.

– International Music Camp, Minot, $3,000 for camper physical and mental health supports.

– Kenmare Wheels and Meals, $6,000 for Burke County meal program.

– Minot Commission on Aging, $20,000 for senior nutrition program, $7,500 for health maintenance program.

– Minot Fire Department, $6,000 for a community outreach project to ease the increasing call volume of the 911 system, educating the community, providing a nontransport visit and improving the quality of life.

– Minot State University, $5,700 enhancing nursing education and community health through acquiring an Integrating Sequential Compression Device, a tool for preventing deep vein thrombosis.

– Mohall Ambulance Service, $1,500 for employee assistance program offering education on mental health, financial counseling, addiction and self-care.

– Nexus-PATH Family Healing, $10,000 for Parent Partner, supporting wraparound services and reunification in treatment foster care in the Turtle Mountain region.

– North Dakota Association of Drug Court Professionals, Minot, $2,500 for the juvenile court probation program.

– Operation Homefront, Inc., Minot Air Force Base, $3,000 for holiday meals for military families through grocery gift cards for E1-E6 members and Post 911 veterans.

– Parkinson’s Symposium, Minot, $2,500 for symposium.

– Rolette County Public Health Unit, Rolla, $5,000 for foot care program.

– Souris Basin Transportation Board, Minot, $15,000 toward replacing handicapped accessible transit vehicle.

– Souris Valley United Way, Minot, $2,500 for Magic City Blessing Bank.

– The Difference-A Holistic Approach, Minot, $2,000 for holistic energy healing for trauma victims.

– The Village Family Service Center, Minot, $12,000 to reduce behavioral health costs for under-insured and uninsured populations.

– Tri-County Senior Meals & Services, Rugby, $5,500 for the senior nutrition program.

– Wad County Sheriff’s Department-Jail, Minot, $5,000 for jail drug treatment wraparound program.

– Ward County Superintendent of Schools, $3,000 for basic hygiene supplies for area schools.

INSPIRITUS Community Health Foundation is matching eligible contributions up to a total amount of $469,500 to 91 agencies and food pantries through its Twice Blessed Program. Agencies applied last summer and were approved to be a part of the program. Donors can contribute to a participating agency through Dec. 31. Last year $1.2 million was distributed through the Twice Blessed program.
