WILLISTON — The Williston Fire Department extinguished a residential fire Friday that burned three garages and damaged row homes.
According to a release, the WFD was dispatched to a residence on 19th Avenue West shortly after 10 p.m. after Williams County Central Dispatch received multiple calls reporting an active fire and explosions in a garage, which was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters arrived to find active fire in three garage units, endangering nearby residences and other garages. Crews assisted Williston police officers in evacuating the endangered residences.
The fire was extinguished at 10:39 p.m. Two attached residential garages and their contents were lost while a third suffered fire damage. Five residential row homes and one parked vehicle were damaged by heat exposure, but all residents were able to return to their homes.
The WFD Fire Prevention Division was able to determine the origin location of the fire, but the cause is still undetermined, according to the release.
