Carpio awarded funds for sewer project
CARPIO – The city of Carpio was awarded a $5.5 million Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan toward wastewater treatment plant replacement and sanitary sewer improvements to help the city meet discharge requirements and reduce repairs, according to the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and Public Finance Authority.
The agencies, which administer State Revolving Fund programs, stated in a news release that they have awarded six loans for water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer projects since August.
In addition to Carpio, Dickinson, Arthur and Jamestown received loans. Dickinson received three loans.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.
