ND State Parade celebrates newspapers

Eloise Ogden/MDN The VFW Color Guard gets ready on Broadway to participate in the North Dakota State Parade.

The North Dakota State Parade in Minot on Saturday brought out many to watch nearly 190 units travel the parade route from Broadway, east along Burdick Expressway and through the North Dakota State Fairgrounds.

The weather cooperated on parade day with a pleasant temperature for those in the parade and those watching it.

This year’s parade theme, “XTRA! “XTRA!” North Dakota Hot News” celebrated newspapers and their importance to communities with two editors of The Minot Daily News – Eloise Ogden, editor, and Jill Schramm, associate editor – as co-grand marshals. Some units in the parade featured the theme.

The North Dakota State Fair opens in Minot on a Friday, this year on Friday, July 19, and the N.D. State Parade, is held the following day on a Saturday.
