Incumbent Ward County Commissioner Shelly Weppler led candidates in the primary race for the commission in Tuesday’s unofficial election results.

Weppler received 5,277 votes or 38.8% while Jedidiah Rader received 4,610 votes or 33.89%. Five write-in candidates shared 3,715 votes or 27.3%. The tally of those write-ins will be completed later this week. Running as write-ins were Jim Rostad, Ron Merritt, Miranda Schuler, Ashley Gulke and Zach Raknerud. Four of the write-in candidates will advance to the general election if they receive at least 300 votes.
